During the Jolly Phonics training, teachers will learn:

  1. Blending and Segmenting: How to help children blend individual sounds together to form words and segment words into individual sounds.

  3. Consonant Blends: How to teach children about consonant blends, which are two or more consonants together that make a distinct sound.
  4. Short and Long Vowel Sounds: How to teach children about short and long vowel sounds and how to differentiate between them.
  5. Tricky Words: How to teach children to read and spell tricky words that do not follow regular phonetic patterns.
  6. Alternative Vowel Sounds: How to teach children about alternative vowel sounds, such as the ‘ai’ in ‘rain’ and the ‘ee’ in ‘tree’.
  7. Spelling Rules: How to teach children different spelling rules and how they apply to different words in English.
